Sulla propria pagina facebook, questa mattina è stato Gaetano Montalbano, esponente del locale circolo della Lega, a formulare la proposta di valutare la possibilità di rinviare ad altra data l’appuntamento elettorale del prossimo 24 maggio. Alla luce dell’emergenza Covid 19 e degli inviti rivolti dal Governo ai cittadini ad evitare assembramenti e luoghi affollati, scrive Gaetano Montalbano, e ritenendo le elezioni amministrative un esercizio democratico troppo serio per essere affrontato infrangendo le raccomandazioni delle autorità nazionali o, al contrario, limitando la possibilità di comunicazione politica con gli elettori, ritengo sia doveroso rinviare a settembre le elezioni amministrative previste in Sicilia per il 24 maggio, prevedendo la proroga di qualche mese per le amministrazioni comunali attualmente in carica. Prima di Gaetano Montalbano, era stato Alfonso Di Carlo, attivista riberese di Articolo 1, a rivolgere un invito alle forze politiche a sospendere le riunioni programmate per i prossimi giorni. Un appello, quello di Di Carlo, rivolto a tutti gli operatori politici e ai candidati alle prossime elezioni amministrative, ad astenersi dal favorire in questi giorni riunioni, conferenze ed assemblee popolari, che metterebbero a rischio la salute dei cittadini perchè di fatto non rispetterebbero gli inviti delle autorità centrali per contenere la possibile diffusione del contagio. Insomma, per Alfonso Di Carlo vanno evitate tutte le occasioni di assembramento popolare. Proprio in questo fine settimana sono in programma a Ribera due importanti riunioni politiche: sabato 7 marzo la conferenza stampa l’ex senatore Giuseppe Ruvolo e l’indomani, domenica, la presentazione della candidatura a sindaco di Matteo Ruvolo da parte della coalizione che lo sostiene.
